Day 1: Airport Pick-up
Our guide will pick you up from the airport and take you to Victoria Rock Resort hotel. Check in and relax.
Day 2: Transfer to Mbarara
After an early morning breakfast, the guide will pick you up from the hotel. We'll drive to Mbarara with a stopover at the Equator for coffee and leg stretching. Afterward, continue the journey to Emburara Farm Lodge, check in, and have lunch. In the evening, experience the Kraal, observing cows following each other to the kraal, licking salt, and enjoying the smoke from dry cow dung to repel flies, mosquitoes, and wild animals.
Day 3: Milking Experience
Wake up early and join the herdsman for cow milking, remove the calves from their house, and participate in the milking process. After milking, take the cows to pasture and provide water. Have breakfast and visit the milking house to see how fresh milk is stored, milking pots are smoked, and various cultural items used by Bahima/Banyankole. After lunch, visit the Mugaba palace, royal tombs, the first church, and tour Mbarara city.
Day 4: Community Experience and Igongo Cultural Center
After breakfast, check out and head to the village for a cultural experience. Engage with locals, participate in food preparation and tasting, visit a banana plantation, and learn about crafts making and traditional dance. Optional activities include a walk within the village or a slow hike up the hill for stunning views. On the way back, stop at a historical spot where Stanley met Buchunku, a representative of Omugabe Ntare (King). Visit the local market.
Day 5: Museum and Cultural Experience
Have morning breakfast and hike to the eclipse monument. Return for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the cultural museum at the lodge showcasing the culture of southwestern Uganda and neighboring kingdoms. Explore the cultural village for traditional experiences in the huts.
Day 6: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park (Optional)
Check out and transfer to Lake Mburo early morning for an Ankole cattle experience with locals. Participate in milking, learn how ghee is made, and talk to the medicine woman. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely boat ride on the lake, viewing aquatic animals like crocodiles and hippos.
Day 7: Transfer to Kampala
Have an early morning breakfast and head to the savannah grasslands for wildlife viewing on the way to Kampala. Stop at the drum makers, observe the drum-making process, and make a souvenir stop at the Equator. The driver guide will take you back to the airport for departure or to the hotel, depending on the flight schedule.
