Lake Mburo National Park is a special place in Uganda, found in the western part of the country. It was made a protected area in 1933, meaning it's looked after by the government to keep it safe and let people enjoy it.
Over the years, it's become a national park where lots of different animals and birds live.
Lake Mburo Park in Uganda is special because it's the only park there that has certain animals like eland, impala, and klipspringer. It's also got the most zebras in Uganda, about 5,000 of them! Plus, it's a great place to see leopards. You can also find buffalo, waterbuck, topi, warthogs, reedbuck, and oribi there. At night, you might see hyenas, genets, bush pigs, and white-tailed mongooses on a game drive.
The heart of the park is Lake Mburo, surrounded by 14 other lakes. They all form part of a big wetland system. This system is connected by a swamp that's 50 kilometers long, fed by the Ruizi River on the west side. Five lakes, including the biggest one, Lake Mburo, are inside the park.
About a fifth of the park is made up of wetlands—some are flooded only in certain seasons, while others stay wet all the time. These wetlands are home to lots of different birds that like wet areas, and also the rare sitatunga antelope. Lake Mburo is always changing, and it's fun to take a boat out on the water and see all the hippos, crocodiles, and African fish eagles. It's also a great spot to see birds like the African finfoot and white-backed heron, which aren't often seen elsewhere.
